Field Trip 2: Food Bank for New York City with Nicole Harrison (Director of Volunteer Engagement)
Discussion: Join Food Bank For New York City to learn about our work, tour our Community Kitchen & Pantry, and advocate for New Yorkers. Volunteers will meet with Food Bank’s Government Relations staff to learn about how we work with our elected officials to advocate for food security policies. Volunteers will then be able to write letters to elected officials advocating for hunger-fighting programs in the NYC budget.

Inspired by President Obama’s Call To Action at the 2023 Obama Foundation Democracy Forum, we aim to organize and host the first IGNITE Social Impact Summit at Union Theological Seminary and Teachers College Columbia University. This 1 1/2-day summit will ignite, grow, and launch the next generation of social impact leaders, while providing a platform for current leaders to share models and best practices from the field. The summit is powered by Morrall Strategy Group and founded and led by HopeBox and Morrall Strategy Group in partnership with Union Theological Seminary, Teachers College Columbia University, Columbia University School of Professional Studies Career Design Lab, Incite at Columbia University, Aspen Global Innovators Group at The Aspen Institute, Columbia Climate School, Columbia Black Alumni Council, and NYC colleges and universities.

FAQ
Are the events happening at both sites on both days?
The first day of the summit will be hosted on April 11 at Union Theological Seminary (3041 Broadway, New York, NY 10027). The second day of the summit will be hosted on April 12 at Teachers College Columbia University (525 W 120th St, New York, NY 10027).
If I register, do I have to attend the entire conference? Can I attend a half or only a portion of the conference? If so, can I get a discount?
We understand that attendees may have other obligations like classes or work, so you're welcome to attend the summit sessions as your schedule permits. However, please note that based on our stated summit refund policy, we are not able to provide refunds once registration is completed.
If I register in-person for one day and virtual for another, which do I register for? Do I have to pay for both?
For a combination of in-person and virtual attendance on different days, please register separately for each attendance option corresponding to the days you plan to attend. Each registration will typically have its own associated fee, reflecting the costs and benefits of each attendance type. This allows us to manage resources effectively and ensure a smooth experience for all attendees.
Where and when can I get the virtual link to attend?
Attendees will receive virtual access instructions via email one week before and the day before the summit. Virtual links are non-transferable and only usable by the registrant.
Will there be a schedule/agenda for each session? Will there be an app that we can use to see the sessions and speakers?
Attendees can expect to find a detailed schedule on the summit website. If you have any questions or need assistance navigating the schedule, please feel free to reach out to the conference organizers for support.
Which speakers will be in-person and which speakers will be virtual?
All speakers will be available in-person and a select number of speakers will be available virtually. Please review the summit schedule for more information.
If I register for the event, do I need to attend both days?

Can I pick which rotating session I want to attend?
Yes, attendees have the flexibility to choose which rotation event they want to attend based on their preferences and interests.

Do I have to bring a student ID in order to get in?
Attendees should plan to bring a form of identification, such as a student ID, to participate in the conference. This will ensure smooth entry into the event.

Attendees can expect to find a detailed schedule on the summit website and will receive session information a week before and the day before the summit.
Will my admission ticket include food and drinks?
Yes. Each ticket includes two light breakfast options, lunch, and a reception.
